Polymer Processing Aid                    



PPA (Polymer Processing Aid) is a general term for several types of materials used to improve processing and handling performances of high molecular weight polymers. It mainly takes effect in the molten polymers to reduce the viscosity of the melt as a lubricant. However, compared with traditional lubricant, PPA (Polymer Processing Aid) has advantages of high efficiency and low addition.








Javachem®SF is a micron grade fluoropolymer processing aid based on a new dispersion technology, which can form a polymer coating structure with low surface energy in base resins and allow the processed polymers to slide smoothly across the machine. With the characteristics of rapid onset, good dispersion, high temperature resistance and non-coking, Javachem®SF helps eliminate melt fracture, reduce die drool, lower die pressure, lessen black spots and crystal spots, prolong the production time and improve product appearance.

Based on a new micro-grade dispersion technology, Javachem®SF-001 has better dispersion and no influence on the mechanical properties of materials. It can be a good replacement of processing aids such as low molecular weight polyolefins and silicone-based polymers to be used in the processing of high viscosity, high molecular weight polyolefin cable.



The contained molecular substances of traditional low molecular weight lubricants are easily adsorbed on the surface of the die after encountering high temperature. Meanwhile, there is a large shear force between the screw and the material, which causes the problem of die drool during extrusion.

With extremely low surface energy, Javachem®SF-001 fluoropolymer processing aid can reduce internal friction between the molecules of processed resins, increase melt flow rate, decrease melt viscosity and improve the overall plasticizing performance. At the same time, it migrates to the surface of the melt during the production process and forms an isolation layer on the metal surface. The adhesion of the melt to the machine body and the metal surface of the die can be decreased, the friction of the melt and machine wall during the movement can be reduced and improve the uneven melt movement during the processing. It can effectively reduce die drool, and gel formation, improve surface gloss of the product as well as decrease rejection rate.




When processing the low MI resin, there will be an increase in torque and internal pressure due to high melt viscosity, leading to higher processing temperature as well as the difficulty.

From the comparison of the rheological curve, Javachem®SF-001 can obviously decrease shear pressure, eliminate melt fracture and enhance processing stability with faster start-up.
